The UAE's Humanitarian Efforts: Evacuating the Vulnerable from Sudan

 

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has evacuated 997 people from Sudan since April 29th, with the most recent nine planes carrying 253 nationals from several countries who have been affected by the clashes that have occurred in Sudan since mid-April. The UAE's evacuation efforts prioritized the most vulnerable groups, including children, the sick, the elderly, and women.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) confirmed the success of the evacuation operation, which was part of the UAE's humanitarian efforts and commitment to strengthening global cooperation and solidarity. The statement also emphasized the UAE's humanitarian approach, based on providing protection for civilians and facilitating aid and assistance to countries in times of need.

The UAE's hosting and care services have continued after the evacuees arrived in the city of Port Sudan. The UAE has hosted nationals from approximately 26 different countries who have been evacuated on these planes, and all necessary care services have been provided while they were in the UAE prior to returning to their home countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) affirmed the UAE's commitment to working with its partners and the international community to achieve all that serves the interests of the Sudanese people. The statement also stressed the importance of intensifying efforts aimed at a ceasefire, a return to the political framework and dialogue, and advancing in the transitional phase to reach the desired political stability and security in Sudan.
